Rocket & Raven

A Rocket & Raven series

Body Lab

A free online science course about the human body: bones, muscles, heart, lungs and senses.

Body Lab is a free online science course about how the human body works, in two versions: Kindergarten to Grade 2, and Grades 3 to 5. Rocket, Raven and Nova explore one part of the body each week, from the senses and the skeleton to the heart, lungs, brain and the body's defenders. Kids feel their own heartbeat, count breaths, build a model arm and test their reflexes. Short lessons run Monday to Friday, and Saturday is Body Lab Day, a family activity with a note for the grown-up. Every fact is checked against health and science sources such as the National Institutes of Health and the CDC.

Frequently asked questions

What does it cost? +

Nothing. Body Lab is free from start to finish, with no card. A free parent account saves each kid's progress.

Which version should we pick? +

Body Lab K to 2 is read aloud and every answer is a tap, so pre-readers can follow. Body Lab Grades 3 to 5 goes deeper into body systems and asks kids to type short answers.

Is it gentle enough for young kids? +

Yes. The course explains what the body does and how to keep it healthy. There are no injuries, illnesses or scary pictures, and it never asks about a child's own body, weight or health.

Is it medical advice? +

No. Body Lab teaches how the body works. For questions about a child's health, ask a doctor or nurse.
